DAY BOOSTS CHARITY FUNDS AT HIGHGROVE
A
Festive Day of fun and entertainment at Highgrove Garden Centre
raised more than £900.00 for the Hospice in the Weald.
The
garden centre, at Staplehurst Road, Marden, has collected more than
£6,100 for charity since it opened to the public just 2 years
ago.
Highgrove’s
Managing Director Trevor Jenkins said “The Festive Day was
a great success and lots of fun. Since we opened, our customers
have been very generous in helping us support our three chosen charities,
Kent Air Ambulance, Macmillan Cancer Support and The Hospice in
the Weald. We will be aiming to raise even more for them all in
2007.”
The
Highgrove Festive Day included carol singing by Staplehurst School
Choir and organ music by Gerry Walters. For the Children, Father
Christmas dropped in to hand out presents and free face painting
was available plus there were plenty of opportunities for the adults
to enjoy free mulled wine whilst listening to traditionally dressed
Highland pipers.
Local radio station CTR 105.6FM broadcasted their Home Run show
live from the centre. There were many phone in competitions and
interviews with all the people that took part including Buzzline
Coaches.
Wreath
making demonstrations by Thornley Studios were held through out
the day whilst the evening included performances from “Fingel’s
Cave”, Coralie Hughes and The Staplehurst Parish Choir.
Amanda
Wyatt a community fundraiser for the Hospice in the Weald was on
hand to talk to Highgrove guests about the services the Hospice
provide. She was also instrumental in the selling of over 750 raffle
tickets on the day.

like to thank Chantelle Jacobs for all of the pictures she took
